With 30 years in the lighting industry, Josh’s passion and experience are in entertainment, architectural lighting, and lighting control systems design. For more than a decade, he was a principal consultant with Theatre Consultants Collaborative (TCC), where he assisted owners and architects by designing dynamic projects ranging from performing arts centers and concert venues to museums and building facades – for both new construction and historical renovation.
Josh has designed for more than 200 productions for theatre (broadway/off-broadway/regional), dance, and television throughout his career, but his passion is architectural lighting and controls systems design. He is a member of United Scenic Artists USA829 and a past-member of The American Society of Theatre Consultants (ASTC.) He has received numerous awards from the IES for his architectural lighting and systems designs. As the Global Director of Design and founding partner and director of 3LR Design, Inc. (USA) and a director of The 3LR Group, Josh oversees all design aspects for the 3LR’s designers, project managers, and programmers. Josh scours the world for fine coffee and small-batch gin and resides in Raleigh, NC, with his Amy and their son, Sam.
As Director of Global Business and a founding partner for The 3LR Group, and now director of 3LR Lighting Ltd. (UK), Matt works on company strategy with the team worldwide, and focuses on the global development of the company. In 2004, he co-founded Global Design Solutions in Bristol, UK, where he continues to lead a substantial team in the manufacture of specialty, high-end LED lighting fixtures for the entertainment industry, architectural, and experiential lighting markets. Matt’s resume includes the provision of lighting for such projects as Opera Bastille, (France), The Bristol Old Vic, London’s Savoy Theatre to name a few. His expertise has led him to create rich, theatrical environments and inviting atmospheres for landmark venues and locations. Matt has ambitious goals for sustainable design and strives for 3LR to serve as a role model and example to other disciplines.
Aaron comes to 3LR with more than 3 decades of experience in the entertainment industry. Credits include Architectural Lighting and Controls Systems, Off-Broadway, Regional Theatre, Television, Dance, and Opera.
Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Theatre Design and Production and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA.) For nearly a decade, Aaron served as a founder/partner for Glasshand Studios – a 3D Visualization firm specializing in the development of 3D Media PhotoReal environments and product presentations for major ad-marketing and U.S. National Corporations.
3LR clients rely on Aaron’s extensive expertise in 3D software, CAD, and Dialux Photometrics generation. He lives in the Louisville, KY Area with his family, fice chickens, and one quail in their recently built coop!
A lighting design and production graduate of the UNC School of the Arts, Noah brings to the team a strong background in lighting systems and controls integration. Coming to 3LR after a short stint at ETC, Noah has helped to design and implement large control systems, for some of the world’s best-known theme parks and cruise ships. As a lighting designer with an integration background, Noah ensures that project documentation details – from drawings, renderings, and specifications, construction administration of installation, and programming and configuration of the final look and feel of the lighting design – are clear and concise. Throughout the process and during commissioning, Noah works closely with installation contractors and owners’ reps to ensure that the final product goes in exactly as it was designed.
After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University College of Technology, Brandon decided to start his own firm, GlassHand Studios, to create the most imaginative and unique visuals for broadcast, product visualization, and general storytelling/media. As a 3D technical artist with a passion for rigging, character TD, dynamics, scripting, and programming, Brandon has created some amazing works for numerous world-renowned clients ranging from ETC and GE to Johnny Walker and Carrier. He has an unquenchable thirst for computer graphics, led many panel discussions, and delivered keynotes at SIGGRAPH. In his spare time, Brandon tries really hard to keep it in the fairway on the golf course. Brandon lives in Louisville, KY.
A graduate of the Film and Screen Media program from University College Cork (UCC) in Ireland, Ronan O’Shea has worked extensively as a Lighting Designer for stage and screen projects, and we are excited to have him as part of the 3LR international team!. His designs include work for live events, as well as serving as a Director of Photography and Gaffer on several short films. While at U.C.C., Ronan received the prestigious Dramat Award for ‘Best Lighting Design’ for his work on The Children’s Hour. He has also recently worked as an Associate Designer with Graffiti Theatre Company on their most recent national tour. In 2019, from hundreds of applicants, Ronan was selected by Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) as one of only six designers to travel to the United States for the Fred Foster Mentorship Program.
For 3LR, Ronan heads up our Cork, Ireland office. As a Lighting Designer and Project Manager, he develops designs and project documentation and manages projects with our clients across disciplines through project completion. Most recently, Ronan has played a major role in the design and management of shipwide Lighting and Controls Systems for Viking Cruise Lines’ Viking Mississippi vessel, as well as a number of land-based projects.
